I have been able to follow at close distance the hatching of a green woodpecker. I put up my portable hide and sat there for a day or two. The parents came with approx 25-30 minutes intervall and the cubs were almost ready to flow out so it was really high time that could catch these pictures on camera. The day after they were all out from the nesting site in an old Aspen tree.

Beautiful series of photos of the green woodpecker Lasse.
SvaraRaderaYou got there right on time a day later they had all flown out, your patience has been rewarded.
Greetings Irma
Hello Lasse, to see a green woodpecker is not simple and take photos of it even more difficult but to be able to follow this nest is just fantastic. Great photos and moments to remember for a long time.
SvaraRaderaRegards,
Roos
Roos, Irma, I was lucky to have the nest rather nearby this time :) But the timing was perfect, the day after they were all gone ;)
SvaraRaderaGreetings Lasse

Hoi Lasse.
SvaraRaderaLeuk dat je de Groene Specht hebt gefotografeerd, is altijd moeilijk om deze soort voor je lens krijgen omdat ze zo schuw zijn.
Groetjes Loes
Hello Loes,
SvaraRaderaYes they are quite shy these woodpeckers. I used a portable tent hide so they could work without disturbance. Good for me and good for the woodpeckers ;)
Thanks and greetings
Lasse
Hi Lasse,
SvaraRaderaIt is a beautiful bird, but it isn't easy to make satisfying pictures of it. It takes a lot of time and endurance to be succesful.
Anyway, you have made a start.
Greetings, Kees
Hi Kees,
SvaraRaderaThanks very much. I used a portable tent hide to get close enough to manage to take the photos without disturbance. The green woodpecker is very tough to get close to otherwise.
Greetings Lasse

Hallo Lasse,
SvaraRaderaWat heerlijk om dit van zo dichtbij mee te kunnen maken. Het is je tijdsinvestering meer dan waard geweest. En een vliegende groene specht kunnen fotograferen is echt top.
